Vivid Morsels

In early April 2005 I was brought on board to production design a script by Neil McCay, Peter Dowty, and David Groves. The film we're creating is entitled "11", and is about parallels, fate, and the worst movie ever made. Here are my production notes and scenes from behind the scenes. -Alessandra Nicole

1/16: September: One last scene for 2005.

We shot a scene back in old own Fairfax, in the basement of the bar Auld Shebeen's (or something like that). It was another fun scene with Emory Kristoff as Percy Groot, giving a spoken word presentation.

Percy Groot is one of two very eccentric characters in our script. He's extremely extroverted and is into street performance, spoken word, and otherwise outwardly audacious attention-grabbing behavior. Underneath it all, he's a very sensitive character fighting his own demons within.

A local businessman, (ok, ok he's a manure salesman) Ron Price ends up asking Percy to star in his low-budget horror thriller as the son of Lucifer. Believe it or not, our film was inspired by a true story.

Our Director of Photography, Pete, consults with the actor.

Our audience of extras was lured to the bar with promise of free beer.

Cheese!

Director Neil and DP Pete discuss amongst themselves.

Justin, one of our beloved production interns from Radford University, marks the scene with the slate.

This scene was a lot of fun to shoot that night. Or maybe I was just drunk.

Our assistant director, the lovely Jessica Hutsko, then a production assistant also hailing from Radford University.

I heard Pete looks like this when he first wakes up in the morning, too.

Hi Jessi!
